The Problem:
The people of Ken-Ton lead the nation in an extremely high incidence of
stroke, heart disease and diabetes. There is every indication that we are
raising our children to suffer the same fate.

One Solution:
Healthy Strides is a community-wide opportunity for you to live longer and
stronger! It kicks off with a Health Fair at the Ken-Ton Showcase on
Saturday, May 3 from 10am-6pm and Sunday, May 4 from 10am-4pm at the
Lincoln Arena at the corner of Parker and Decatur. There you can sign up for
more than sixty programs that will take place all over Ken-Ton for the
following six weeks! All are designed to help you improve a vital aspect of your
health. Many will feature walking -- an exercise almost everyone can do -- but
others will present more vigorous exercise, healthy eating, stress reduction,
smoking cessation, maintaining memory, children's exercise, etc. Most will be
free, or offered at a reduced cost. And just to make things even better,
anyone who participates in at least 12 activities over the six weeks will be
eligible to win great prizes at our closing Commitment Ceremony, held at the
Lincoln Arena on Saturday, June 14 from 10am-noon. (You don't have to be
present to win a prize, but some prizes will be given only to those who are
there!)

Who is doing this? A broad coalition including the Ken-Ton Chamber of
Commerce, the Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department,
the Ken-Ton Family YMCA, Kenmore Mercy Hospital, and churches and
businesses.

How can you get started? Sign up at our Health Fair at the Ken-Ton
Showcase. Or register on this website. Or check out our program guide --
available in April -- and call the organization providing the program you want
to participate in. Tell your friends and neighbors! Let's all make Healthy
Strides!
